It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Shield Gules with base wavy of Argent and Vert; a tankard Or, standing on a potter's wheel of the same; in chief a pair of keys in saltire tied Argent, the bendy key Or, the other one Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VILA FRANCA DO CAMPO - S.PEDRO".
Meaning:
The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, local patron saint and name giver of the commune. Tankard and wheel are referring to the importance of local arts and crafts. The base wavy with green waves is representing the Atlantic and is alluding to the importance of fishery.
