Shield Argent, a cross fleury fitchy Gules, aka sword cross, flanked by a bunch of three wheat ears Vert at dexter and a branch of oak Vert at sinister, in base a throughout bridge Argent with three archs masoned Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALVALADE - SANTIAGO DO CACÉM".

Alvalade Commune is one of the eight communes of the Santiago do Cacém municipality (q.v.); it had 2098 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 161.1 km². Alvalade has been a town since 1510 and had been seat of a municipality until 1836.
