Shield Or two chestnut trees eradicated and leafed Vert with chestnuts of Gules and Argent in fess, on chief two flowers Purpure seeded Argent in fess, on base a wreath of stinging nettle Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE SOUTO DA CARPALHOSA E ORTIGOSA".
Meaning:
The trees as heraldic representation of a chestnut grove (Portuguese: souto) stand for former Souto da Carpalhosa Commune, flowers and the canting wreath of stinging nettle (Portuguese ortiga) stand for former Ortigosa Commune.

Meaning:
The urtica branches, also called stinging nettles, (Portugues: ortiga) are canting elements.
