A blue-field
flag of the "Christian Palestinian Scouts" in Beit Sahour [West Bank/Samaria &
Judea] who are a sub-group (of about 11) in the "Palestinian Scout Association"
in the West Bank and Gaza; c. 11 Dec 2022. Beit Sahour is the traditional site
in the West Bank of Shepherds Field to which the Magi followed the Christmas
Star to greet the newborn Jesus. During Christian holidays (Christmas, Easter),
Muslim and Christian Scouts participate in joint parades. Muslims regard Jesus
as a prophet, but a Muslim prophet who followed not Jewish but Islamic theology.
The groups play bagpipes with their group's flag hanging from one of the pipes
-- a tradition that is a holdover from the British Palestinian Mandate pre-1948.
