The General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru (Cuerpo General de
Bomberos Voluntarios del Perú - CGBVP), established on 5 December 1860, is
organized by Law No. 27,067, adopted on 10 March 1999 by the Congress and
published on 11 March 1999.

The institutional symbols of the CGBVP are prescribed by Resolución
Jefatural No. 396, adopted on 17 September 2009 in San Isidro. Article
1 lists the institutional symbols as:
- the institutional coat of arms;
- the institutional flag;
- the institutional anthem.
The Appendix detailing the symbols; with colour pictures, is part of
the Resolución Jefatural.
The flag of the CBVGP is rectangular, in proportions 2:3, red with the
coat of arms of the CGBVP in the middle. when the flag is hoisted, its
size shall be proportional to the place of hoisting.
The red colour is prescribed as Pantone 032c / CMYK (%) 0 93 95 0.
The standard of the CBVGP (not listed in Article 1 but detailed in the
Appendix) is similar to the flag, shaped like a lozenge of 1.40 m in
height and 0.93 m in width. The standard shall be attached to a staff
of dark cherry colour, of 2.10 m in height, equipped with bronze base
and finial.
The shield of the CBVGP is 6 units in height on 4.60 units in length.
It is made of a white disk charged with a ladder placed vertically,
two fire hoses, a hook and a [cometa de mando], all golden yellow and
interlaced to form a single element, superimposed in the middle with a
black, dove-tailed firefighter's helmet outlined in white. The white
disk is surrounded by a ring of smaller width horizontally divided in
the middle, the upper part, red inscribed with "CUERPO DE
BOMBEROS" [Firefighters' Corps] in golden yellow letters, and the
lower part divided into three equal parts, the outer part and the
central, white, symbolizing the Peruvian flag, the white part
inscribed with "PERU" in black letters. The ring is surmounted by
seven sun rays of larger length and width, united by thinner and
shorter rays, all golden yellow, the longer rays being of 1.35 unit in
length. The ring is surrounded by two equal, stylized branches of
laurel tied in base by a ribbon, all green. All the components of the
coat of arms are outlined in golden yellow.
