Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

The council informed me they do not have information regarding their municipal coat of arms, but it appears based on comments online that it was created by the teacher Jorge García. It is unclear if it is still used today, as the Administration of 2024-2027 uses a different logo. It depicts, to its sides, two hands holding swords for the strength of the people. Under it is a ribbon that reads "SAN FERNANDO, CHIAPAS, MEXICO." Above the shield, mountains and a tree are depicted for its geography; a ribbon is also seen which reads "MUNICIPIO LIBRE Y SOBERANO" [Free and Sovereign Municipality]. The shield is divided into two halves with a triangle at the bottom. The left section depicts a deer for its fauna. The right half depicts a pear growing from a branch, symbol of fruticulture. The lower section depicts a man in a tiger suit, representative of the Dance of the Tiger, a local Zoque cultural tradition.
