No Flag

The council informed me Acapetahua does not use a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

The council informed me the coat of arms of Acapetahua was adopted in 1956, being designed by José Guadalupe Méndez; the council informed me that it was made official "in that year" of the administration of Municipal President José Flores Rivera (1976-1979). I can not verify if this information is true or not, but it appears it may not be a modern creation. The shield has a white border, reading "ACATL-PETATL-HUA", the Nahuatl name for the area, at the top. Going around the border are fruits of the area and elements of its local economy: cacao, corn, mango, papaya, cow head for cattle-raising, banana, shrimp, palm tree for its tropical environment, and fish. In its inner area, it depicts at the top. At the bottom, waves are seen as a representation of the coast which the Municipality has. Just above the waves, a serpent with feathers is depicted as an allegory of Quetzalcoatl, meaning "Feathered Serpent", indicating the Aztec faith of its founders. Under this, arrows are seen with shells on its sides, indicating its name which means "Place of petates of reeds" (petates being bedrolls/mats).
