"Colors have always held special significance in flags and banners. In the Kingdom of León, red is the royal color of León, green commemorates victories over Islam, and blue and white refer to religious devotions.
The banner of Riofrío incorporates three of these colors: red, white, and green. Red represents the Kingdom of León. White was created to preside over religious celebrations, hence its placement in the center; and green commemorates victories over Islam. All three colors were doubled when the standard-height, portable flagpole was replaced with a double-height one."
