The municipality of Toledo (144,501 inhabitants in 2021; 119,702 ha) is located 
550 km west of Curitiba. The municipality is made of the districts of Toledo 
(seat) and Bom Princípio, Concórdia do Oeste, Dez de Maio, Dois Irmãos, Novo 
Sarandi, Novo Sobradinho, São Luiz do Oeste, São Miguel, Vila Ipiranga and Vila 
Nova.
Toledo was established on 27 March 1946 in th short-lived Iguaçu 
Federal Territory by 14 colonists coming from São Marcos. The municipality of 
Toledo was established by State Law No. 790 promulgated on 14 November 1951, 
separated from Foz de Iguaçu, and inaugurated on 14 December 1952.
Toledo was 
named for stream Toledo, itself named decades before the establishment of the 
town for an inn owned by a man named Toledo. The name of the town was selected 
among three proposals, Toledo, Cristo Ra and Brasiléia.

The 
flag and arms of Toledo are prescribed by Municipal Law No. 660 promulgated in 
1972.
The flag of Toledo, designed by heraldist Arcinoé Antonio Peixoto 
de Faria, is described as follows: Quartered in green quarters formed of three 
horizontal white stripes superimposed with red stripes, which start from a white 
triangle placed along the hoist and inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
The coat of arms of Toledo, designed by heraldist Arcinoé Antonio Peixoto de 
Faria, is described in heraldic terms as follows: A Samnite shield surmounted by 
the six-towered mural crown argent, on a field argent a pine proper on a terrace 
vert surrounded by two open books proper in base a fess wavy argent charged with 
a cogwheel argent and a hunting horn gules in cowboy style. The chief cantonned 
with two axes sable. The shield supported dexter and sinister by bean and maize 
plants proper crossed in base and superimposed with over which a red scroll 
containing in letters argent the toponym "TOLEDO" surrounded by years "1946" and 
"1951".

The flag of CTG Chama Crioula is divided green-yellow by a white stripe 
running from upper hoist to lower fly, inscribed with "CTG CHAMA CRIOULA - 
TOLEDO - PARANÁ".
