Article 3.
The flag of the municipality of Jaguariaíva was designed after a

based on advanced research and on the description made by heraldist Arcinoé
Antonio Peixoto de Faria, as follows.
I - Quartered in saltire, forming

the municipality.
IV - The stripes starting from the circle and dividing the
flag into quarters symbolize the spread of the municipal public power to all
parts of the municipality's territory while the quarters symbolize the existing
rural properties in the territory.
V - The green color alludes to the
abundant rainforest and plant extraction, as well as to pastures grazed by
cattle, symbolizing abundance, victory, courtesy and hope.
VI - The yellow
color represents the great fortune, splendor and wealth arising from plant
extraction industries, as well as the agricultural production coming from the
fields.
VII - The white color is the eternal symbol of peace, work,
prosperity and harmonious coexistence among the inhabitants.
Article 5.
The design of the municipal flag shall obey the following rules and dimensions.
I - The width shall be 14 units.
II - The length shall be 20 units.
III -
The geometric figures (quarters and stripes) must follow the same pattern. The
green quarters shall be 5 units in width on 8 units in length. The yellow

in bend shall be 14 units in length on 4 units in width.
IV - The yellow pine
shall be 2 units in height.
V - The central white circle inscribing the coat
of arms shall be of 2.5 units in radius.
VI - The center of the coat of arms
shall match the circle's geometric center; its height, from the scroll to the
mural crown, shall be 4 units.
Article 9.
The coat of arms of the
municipality of Jaguariaíva was designed after a set of studies elaborated by
the artistic and cultural community of Jaguariaíva, based on advanced research
and on the description made by heraldist Arcinoé Antonio Peixoto de Faria, as
follows.
I - The surmounting mural crown is a universal symbol of domains'
coats of arms: argent (silver) with eight towers, five of them visible in
perspective drawing, it classifies a 2nd rank town, that is, the seat of a
county.
II - The field vert (green) symbolizes in heraldry victory, honor,
courtesy, civility, joy, abundance and friendship. Hope is green, alluding to
green fields in spring promising a profuse harvest.
III - In the center of
the shield, the stylized crown of thorns or (gold) is the symbol of the patron
saint, Bom Jesus da Pedra Fria. It is flanked by two Brazilian pine trees of the
same, identifying the forest region where the town is located, or more properly,
the state of Paraná of which the pine is an identifying symbol. The pine in
heraldry indicates ancient and generous nobility, kindness, cordiality, since,
being tall and shady, it does not bother any plant that is below, hence it was
used as a symbol of the great lord who does not disdain or drive away more
humble that live around him. The two pine trees evoke the two figures of
greatest historical significance for the municipality: Colonel Luciano Carneiro
Lobo, one of the founders of the town, and his young wife, Isabel Branco Xavier
e Silva, whose dedication is due to the consolidation of the work started by her
husband. Or (gold) symbolizes in heraldry glory, splendor, wealth, victory and
command.
IV - The pointed mantel is the symbol of the mountains, evoking
Serra do Canastrão and Serra das Furnas; it is charged with a wavy stripe azure
(blue) symbolizing river Jaguariaíva and a "wild" animal sable that makes the
arms canting, as it evokes the toponym "Jaguariaíva", "Jaguar's River" - meaning
by its elements "Jaguar", "a jaguar"; "i", "a river"; "aiva", "bad, crazy,
brave", according to the Tupi-Guarani dictionary and confirmation through
consultations and studies carried out by the town's Education, Culture and
Sports Department.
V - The bordure is a symbol of favor and protection.
Argent (silver) symbolizes in heraldry peace, work, and prosperity. It is
charged with attributes of pioneers and colonists: the blunderbuss of the
pioneer preacher of Indians and conqueror of land, and provider of southern
animals to the Sorocaba fair, who settled in the region where the town is
located today, initiating colonization.
VI - Gules (red) in which the
horseshoes are represented symbolizes in heraldry intrepidity, courage, bravery
and audacity, which is identified with the indomitable spirit of those pioneer
colonizers; sable symbolizes integrity and austerity.
VII - The shield is
supported by two cowboys recalling that field work, notably cattle raising, is a
factor of great importance for the municipality's income.
VIII - The scroll
is inscribed with the toponym "Jaguariaíva", surrounded on the right by year
"1823", referring to the date of 15 September, when Jaguariaíva was elevated a
parish, today Jaguariaíva's day, and on the left by year "1908", when it was
elevated a town.
