The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 1st 2005 by Notice No 1 and 2. The white flag has a green and an orange two color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 安 A of Azumino. The green color symbolizes an abundant nature and the orange color does a solidarity in a form of a ring connecting with the citizen. The flag proportion is 13:20.

The design is based on the katakana character ホリ “Hori”; the circle represents the village's harmony and development, while the lower part symbolizes unity.

Hotaka Town / 穂高町

The design is based on the katakana characterホ “Ho”; the circle symbolizes the town’s unity and peace, while the wings represent industrial development and progress.
