Description

The Plenary of the City Council, in the ordinary session of 20 December 2012, agreed to initiate the proceedings for the modification of the heraldic shield and the officialization of the flag of the city of Cervera, in accordance with the project drawn up by the historian Josep M. Llobet Portella, at the request of the Agrupació Seny Major and commissioned by the City Council.

-On December 20, 2012, the Plenary Session of the Cervera City Council agreed to initiate the file for the adoption of the municipality's flag and initially approve a proposal for this symbol.

-In the session of July 24, 2017, the Plenary Session of the Cervera City Council approved the municipal flag with the quorum of the absolute majority of the legal number of members of the corporation.

-On October 5, 2017, the Cervera City Council sent the Department of the Interior, Public Administrations and Housing a certificate of the final approval agreement, together with a copy of the administrative file, which contains, among other documents, a report- report justifying the correctness of the description of the flag with its dimensions, proportions, colors and loads, as well as its graphic representation.

-On March 27, 2018, the General Directorate of Local Administration issued a favorable report on the correctness of the processing of the procedure and the proposal formulated

I resolve:
–1 Conform to the adoption of the flag of the municipality of Cervera
–2 Register the flag of the municipality of Cervera in the Registry of the local public sector of Catalonia of the Department of the Interior, Public Administrations and Housing.
–3 Publish this Resolution in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The flag of Cervera was adopted on 18 May 2018 and published on 18 May 2018 in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya, No. 7622.

This is the true color of the "ciervos" (deer or stags) as seen in the CoA at Cervera's website, of which the flag is a BoA. Eduardo Panizo has them brown with a yellow edge.

I have no references about the flag reported,, although in the resolution of adoption of the current coat of arms of the municipality it's mentioned of "modification of the coat of arms". Perhaps the flag reported was an unofficial heraldic flag developed from a former shield.
