Coat of Arms (1990 - 2022)

Renaissance shield Or parted per fess; above Or a demi-lion issuant and parted per fess of Gules and Vert; beneath parted per pale, at dexter Gules two bobbins Or in saltire, at sinister Or a plough share Sable.
Meaning:
The lion is a differentiation of the family arms of the Lords of Schönburg, former local rulers. The bobbins are symbolising textiles industry, the plough share is symbolising agriculture.
According to the municipal webpage the former arms infringed heraldic tincture rules, which I cannot confirm. The plough share was sometimes considered to be Argent on Argent and the colour of the share then had been the formerly usual stone-grey. However the lion of the Schönburg kin had been parted of red and green. Thus the red lion in the arms can belong to anybody.

Flag, banner and arms were approved on 24 August 2022 by the county administration.
As common shortly after German reunification the municipality used the arms approved in 1939 by the governor (Reichsstatthalter) and put them onto a flag in the Saxonian colours white and green.
