Flag and arms were granted 3rd May 2018
Description of flag: List tvoří bílý žerďový pruh široký třetinu délky listu
a modré pole. V pruhu tři kosmé černé pruhy vycházející z první, třetí a páté
šestiny žerďového okraje do druhé, čtvrté a šesté šestiny vlajícího okraje
pruhu. V poli žlutá svatojakubská mušle. Poměr šířky k délce listu je 2 : 3.
Which translates to: The field is formed by a white hoist stripe one third
of the field's length and a blue fly field. In the stripe are three diagonal
(top left to bottom right) stripes, emerging from the first, third and fifth
sixth of the hoist and terminating in the second, fourth and sixth sixth of the
fly side of the stripe. In the blue filed a yellow St. Jacob clam (scallop). The
ratio of the field's width to its length is 2 : 3.

The Czech blazon of the arms is as follows: Stříbrno-modře polcený štít,
vpravo tři kosmá černá břevna. Přes vše zlatá svatojakubská mušle provázená
vlevo nahoře vztyčeným zlatým lipovým listem.
The shell is the
attribute of St. Jacob, patron of the local church, allegedly connected to the
oldest settlement in the municipality. The blue symbolises the river Brtnice and
Kněžický fish pond on the territory of the municipality. The town also has a
series of former fish ponds, defunct today, also represented by the blue colour.
The linden leaf references the linden lined road through the town. In the
alternate designs where four are present, it also represents the four former
settlements which form today’s Kněžice – Brodce, Rychlov, Víska and Kněžice.
Finally, the three black lines on silver come from the coat of arms of the
Hrutovici family, of which the first recorded owner of the town, Dětřich of
Kněžice, was a member.

The strategic development plan of Kněžice from 2012 already mentioned the
lack of a flag and coat of arms. The original request to design municipal
symbols was raised by the citizens with the municipal council. The arms and flag
were designed by Jan Severa in 2016. The town was unable to come up with their
own ideas regarding the symbols so a brainstorming session with the heraldist
was held. Ten options were created of which the municipal council chose three
(I, V and VIII) for a public vote. The vote happened on the 21st April 2017 and
citizens were asked to throw their ballot into a box corresponding to their
favourite design. Of the 66 votes cast (14% of the municipality's population),
the victorious design received 48 votes.
The two alternate coat of arms
designs had the following Czech descriptions:

hlavě štítu čtvero zlatých lipových listů vedle sebe, ve stříbrném poli tři
černé šikmé pruhy.

Design V: Na modrém štítu stříbrná lastura provázená
čtyřmi zlatými lipovými listy v půlkruhu při okraji štítu. V stříbrné hlavě
štítu tři černé šikmé pruhy.
I have found no information on the remaining 7 designs, this would require
contacting the municipality.
