The coat of arms of Villa de Arista was probably adopted in 2009, as indicated by the coat of arms. The council informed me they could not find information regarding its history. The shield has a ribbon above it in white, reading on the left 1711 (year of its foundation); in the center "VILLA DE ARISTA, S.L.P", and on the far right 1972, the year it became a Municipality. The shield is divided into three sections, with one big one above and two small ones below it. The upper section depicts the sun and its rays rising from behind hills, a typical background scene. To the front of it is a ploughed field with rows of crops. Dividing the two sections at the bottom (squares), a blue band appears as a representation of water; it has the year 2009 over it. The lower-left section depicts a contour of the Municipality, with its agricultural products (tomato and a pepper) over it. The lower-right section depicts an image of Mariano Arista, national president and minister of war who the Municipality is named for. Both squares are in gray.

The previous (probably first) coat of arms had an oval form. Over it was a gray ribbon reading VILLA DE ARISTA. The oval depicted a ploughed field with crops, and emerging over it a large image of Mariano Arista, who the municipality is named for. To the sides are: a harvester (left) and a tractor (right).
