The municipality of Aktio-Vonitsa (17,370 inhabitants in 2011; 66,290 ha) was formed in the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the three former municipalities of Anaktorio (Ανακτόριο, 8,830 inh.), Palairos (Πάλαιρος, 4,494 inh.) and Medeon (Μεδεών, 5,050 inh.).
