Description of the flag

Frontside of Iranian aerogram/lettergram mimicking the national flag of Iran, c. 1985. During the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988, the Iranian government provided free, stamp-less (no postage value) aerograms/lettergrams to their soldiers to boost correspondence between them and their families. Iranian soldiers did not need to place a postage-stamp on these aerograms to mail them to whomever (domestically). The top line is an ayat/verse from the Quran: "Victory belongs to Allah (God) and Victory is near." And below it is an exhalation from Iran's "Supreme Leader" during the war, Imam Khomeini, who flattered his troops with: "I kiss your powerful hand and arm, which is the hand of Almighty God above."
